Sometimes a simple story, an exchange of glances, can lead to a moving epic. There is a boy and a girl, waiting for the subway. No one else. And suddenly, the viewer feels part of their lives in an almost voyeuristic visiting their thoughts ,so casual and cool. What starts out as a separate monologue of two characters, dialogues becomes a “telepathic” story inspired in a subversive love that makes you laugh, feel embarrassed and feel identified. All at once. With Coque Malla and Ariadna Gil, who now flirt with Hollywood, they do not need more ornaments. The music also helps to give impetus to a story and in the hands of many other directors might not have as much grace or be so emotional.
The Best of ‘El columpio’ is that it is something that could have happened to anyone, and the glimmer of hope that offers delights us with the idea that our soul mate could be out there waiting for us in the same way that we hope. One Monday afternoon in a hallway, on the bus, on the street. This proximity to the self-serving fantasy, decorated with a style “Spanish” credible and honest dialogue, and characters, in short, are not artificial at any time, make an adorable little movie, we can see several times without getting tired, to appreciate every word, every joke, every gesture.
